Steady Website Content Means Steady Traffic

Many business owners and website owners still think they can put up a website, add 5 pages, and let it sit for years.  They then wonder why their website isn’t generating revenue for their business.
We already wrote about how companies that blog make far more online revenue and even gave out ten fantastic ways to think of topics for your blog, yet so many business owners still don’t update their blog!  For many of our SEO clients, we’re able to factor in a blog post or two per month into the cost of their SEO package, however even one or two articles per month isn’t going to be enough in most niches.  The reality is the more quality website content you get out there on the internet, the better your chances are of being discovered.

Why Fresh Website Content Is So Important

Search engines like Google constantly rank fresh content higher than older content.  As an example of this, we wrote a blog post just a few weeks ago outlining the results we’ve seen so far with one of our client’s SEO campaigns.  When you search for various key phrases related to that article, we’re consistently #1.  And below us are similar articles from 2011, 2010, and so on.  Fresh content has a better chance of ranking better!
Beyond the content being fresh, it’s important to have a large amount of quality content.  Would you rather go fishing with one fishing pole and one hook or would you rather go fishing with 20 fishing poles and 20 hooks?  As you put out more and more content, your chances of your potential customers finding you continues to increase as you’ll rank for more and more terms.  Beyond that, once people come to your website, they’ll be able to find answers to questions they may have through your blog content.

Steady Content Means Steady Traffic

If you’re able to put out a steady amount of content on a regular basis, such as 2-3 blog posts per week over the course of 6 months to a year, you’re going to find that you’ll have a very nice, steady increase in your website’s traffic.  Now that doesn’t work on just any site, because a prerequisite for your content ranking well is that your site is well optimized for search engines, both on site and off site, however if you’re doing SEO with a reputable company and blogging regularly, you’re almost guaranteed to see a traffic increase and generate more revenue online.
No matter how many times we say it or how many different ways we say it, some business owners just refuse to update their site or have a blog!  Having a website without a blog these days is like not even having a website at all.  I always say if you’re going to do something, you may as well do it right, so if you want to generate new customers from the internet, make sure you have a regularly updated blog as part of your website.
