If I only had a nickel for every time I saw a website that was designed with no thought given to SEO…I probably wouldn’t be working for an SEO company right now and would be retired on a private island in the Caribbean. No seriously I’m not even kidding.
SEO Friendly Website Design
If you’re considering building a new website or redesigning a current website, do yourself a HUGE favor and read this article as it will leave you with a list of questions to ask your web designer and will probably lead to you changing to another designer.
SEO friendly website design is extremely important. On site SEO is becoming more and more important these days, and the majority of freelance web designers and even some web design companies don’t use SEO friendly coding and design.
If you’re having a new website designed, make sure you ask your web designer the following questions, and make sure the answer to all these questions is yes:
- Will I have the ability to change the Titles of my web pages?
- Will I have the ability to change the Meta information of my web pages?
- Will I have the ability to edit the content on my web pages?
- Will I have the ability to post new content/pages on my website?
- Will you be using proper coding on the actual site to ensure search engines can crawl the site?
- Will you minimize usage of images and flash and instead use HTML5 based coding?
- Will my site be able to naturally rank for basic keywords without any SEO?
If the answer to any of these questions is no, you might want to consider going with another web designer. I know most of you reading this blog don’t know much about web design, so I’m not going to get into the details of why these 7 points are important for SEO, but trust me they are (and if you have any questions about specific points listed above either give us a call, drop us an email, or post a comment below).
Simple SEO Group offers SEO Friendly Web Design Services. That means your site should rank well without additional SEO for basic keywords like your company name and in some cases your local niche. For example, we designed a website a few months ago for a local snow removal and construction company, and they naturally rank when you Google the name of their company.
On another note, we had a company that decided to go with another company for web design because our bid was about $125 higher than another company. When I search for that company’s name on Google, they are on page 3.
We have a little saying here at Simple SEO Group: What good is your website if nobody can find it? Think about it. Does it really matter how fancy your flash animations are if no one see them? Or how great of a picture you have on your home page if there’s no one to view it? SEO friendly doesn’t mean an ugly website, it means a website that uses a structure that search engines and humans can read which gives you the best of both worlds.
