A 33% batting average is enough to get you into the baseball hall of fame. Heck, Babe Ruth batted a .342 career average and is one of the most recognized names in sports. In the world of SEO, ranking 50-60% of your targeted competitive keywords on the first page of Google is usually what it takes to be considered hall of fame status.
Today, we’re taking a look at a client of ours who has been doing SEO for right around 1 year, and in that short time period we managed to rank 100% of their keywords on the first page of Google.
Before we dive in, full disclaimer — ranking 100% of keywords on the first page of Google in a year is NOT typical. As I mentioned earlier, ranking 50-60% of your keywords on page 1 is considered a huge win. For this blog post, we took a look at our agency’s batting average (well, ranking average, but batting average sounds cooler) and across all our SEO clients, we currently have 68% of our client’s keywords on page 1 of Google and 14% on page 2 of Google, which is truly considered “hall of fame” status.
The Journey To Page 1 Results
In 2018, we first met this client when they came to us interested in building a new website. We built them a great website and truthfully didn’t hear much from them for several years. Fast forward to 2022, and they said they were running Google Ads and needed help.
Naturally, we jumped in and helped them get more out of their Google Ads campaign, but knew in the long run that wasn’t the best strategy for them. Finally by July 2023, we were able to convince them to take the leap into the world of SEO. We started out with around 25 keywords, none of which were ranking on the first page of Google.
After just 3 short months, we started to see signs of some of their keywords making their way to pages 2 and 3 of Google, and eventually in month 4 saw a large portion jump onto page 1.
The chart below plots the average increase (or decrease) of all keywords over the past year. As you can see, with the exception of some minor down months, this client mostly saw all positive results from day 1. What’s great about our in-house reporting software is it plots the rankings of every keyword every day so even in the early months of an SEO campaign when we don’t have keywords on page 1, we can at least show progress to our clients and help assure them that results are just around the corner.
The Strategy
The strategy for this client was the same we implement for every client, which consists of:
- Strong keyword research to identify the best terms to rank for which will drive traffic and conversions (ROI)
- Flawless on-site optimization looking at dozens of on-site elements and adjusting constantly to match what Google’s algorithm is currently prioritizing
- A sound off-site link building strategy, helping to raise domain rank while improving rankings for specific keywords
- Content creation, both for static web pages and on-going articles/blogs, to help rank for long tail and drive internal linking
- And last but not least, our proprietary AI driven SEO strategy — a bit of our “secret sauce” — which helps us leap frog 100% of our clients to page 1 of Google
The only real difference between this client and most of our clients is the speed at which they ranked (3 months is abnormally fast) and the velocity at which all their keywords ranked (100% on page 1 of Google after 1 year is almost unheard of).
The below graphic depicts the journey of keywords over the past 12 months from 0 ranking all the way to July, 2024 where 100% of the keywords ranked on page 1. The darker green depicts the top of page 1 (position 1, 2 or 3) while the lighter green depicts the bottom of page 1 (positions 3 through 10). Not only is this client ranking 100% on page 1, but 50 out of their 58 keywords are in the top 3 results on page 1!
The Results
Rankings are great but we’re all about results and ROI. This particular client saw an organic traffic increase of 900% over 1 year and has told us that their business is booming and dominating all of their target markets.
This increase in traffic and in business means not only did we rank 100% of these keywords on the first page, but more importantly we picked the right keywords to rank which actually drive relevant traffic and business for our client. Anyone can rank a set of random keywords, but it takes a truly skilled SEO agency with a sound strategy to find the right terms, rank 100% of them and drive true ROI and results for our end client.

Our client wants to continue to aggressively grow their business, which means as we write this blog post we’re engaged in another round of keyword research to find more great keywords that aren’t on page 1 and get them ranking.
