Small business owners. Entrepreneurs. The ones who think outside the box. The one’s who will invest everything and anything to get their ideas, concepts, thoughts, and dreams to become a reality. The ones who spend countless days and often times endless nights on perfecting their strategy, their game plan, their business. The US has produced some of the greatest, brightest, most creative people in the world. From Bill Gates to Steve Jobs, from the Wright brothers to Benjamin Franklin. It isn’t a coincidence that these people became great figures in history–it’s because of their hard work, motivation, and dedication. Because of their inability to say no, their will to keep pushing harder, and their spirit to remain resilient even in the face of defeat.
While this blog post comes just a few days after the death of Steve Jobs, that isn’t the main reason for a post like this. The main reason is because if you look around the world, the economy is struggling. People are jobless. Taxes are getting higher. The standard of living is arguably stagnant. Why? Because most people have lost the willpower to make a difference. I’m fairly anti-Apple–the only thing I own is an iPod–but even with that said I’ll be the first to say that the story of Steve Jobs is an incredible one. From a guy in his parent’s garage with a great idea to the CEO of the largest company on the face of the earth. It isn’t a coincidence–it’s because Steve Jobs had all the qualities listed above and wouldn’t give up no matter what. That’s becoming harder and harder to find these days.
One place I often find it though is in my clients–small business owners–the ones who are on the front lines every single day pushing to improve their business, build their client base, and make a difference. The ones who aren’t just some big, faceless corporation that charges your credit card but the people you know on a first name basis, who you can call and not hear a machine, who are working tirelessly to improve their products and services to be the best that they possibly can be. The world truly needs more people like that and quite honestly we wouldn’t be in the terrible economic situation we are in.
I wanted to share a brief video on entrepreneurs that’s only about a minute long–it’s worth watching if you’ve never seen it before:
Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward.
Maybe they have to be crazy.
How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written? Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?
We make tools for these kinds of people.
While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.

So on days when you feel defeated, down, worn out, feel like there’s no way to compete–remember that it’s people like you that can make a difference. If only a few of those people who stand in the unemployment line to collect a check that is funded with our hard earned tax dollars would use their talent, put forth some effort, and use their energy on something other than playing video games–the world would be a better, more creative, more enjoyable place. Put forth that effort and one day it really will pay off.
